What Should You Know When Choosing the Right Skate Size?

What Should You Know When Choosing the Right Skate Size?

If You’re Ordering Online:

  1. First, measure your foot length.
  2. Check the size chart for the skate model you like.
  3. Select the size that best matches your foot length, but leave a few extra millimeters for comfort. We recommend adding 5–9 millimeters to your foot length to account for the thickness of your socks.

For example:

My foot measures 27.5 cm from the heel to the tip of the longest toe.

I want to order Powerslide SWELL Triskates. I check the size chart, which shows that a foot length of 27.5 cm corresponds to size 43 EU.

Size 43 EU would fit, but my feet need more room inside the boot, and I also like skating with thick socks. So, I add 0.5 cm to my foot length. 27.5 + 0.5 = 28 cm, which means my size is 44 EU.

Should you choose skates based on the size of your shoe insoles?

No. Size charts are usually based on measurements taken using the method described in our article, How to Determine Your Size, rather than measuring insoles. Insoles are typically a few millimeters smaller than the actual foot size.

If You’re Trying Skates in Our Physical Store Korcule.com:

  1. Ask for skates in the size you usually wear for your shoes.
  2. Try the skates on and make sure they’re not too big or too small.

If you’re standing upright:toes touching front of skate

It’s fine if your toes lightly touch the front of the skate.

If your knees are bent:

Your toes should no longer touch the front of the skate.

When putting the skates on, tap the last wheel of the skate against the ground to push your heel as far back as possible. Then bend your knees and tighten the fastening at the instep. This will secure your heel best when you’re in a skating position.

Check if you might need insoles for your skates, which can help support the arch of your foot and make the boots more comfortable.
