Decks

Decks

Freestyle scooter decks differ mainly in shape and size. Most of the time, the material they are made of is aluminum, but sometimes steel can also be used. Decks are usually not compatible with all individual parts, so the deck is almost an universal part. However, you should pay attention to the maximum allowed size of the wheel and also whether the deck is adapted to the integrated head assembly (headset). There are two primary divisions of decks, skatepark and street.

Skatepark decks are compact and light. When it comes to width, they often range up to 5 inches and can have different cutouts throughout their body. Their construction is adapted to be used in the skatepark environment and ramps. They usually have flex brakes, which means they are flexible, usually made of nylon or thin aluminum. The compatibility of the wheel usually ranges between a diameter of 100mm - 120mm and a width of 24mm.

On the other hand, street decks are durable and heavy. Their width is usually 5.5 inches and above. They typically have a square shape that contributes to better stability and control on rails. With such large decks, there is also a lot of space for feet, which is practical for heavy impacts and jumping from stairs. Street decks often have fenders and are compatible with almost all wheel sizes.
