The Bell 4Forty helmet is built to handle the challenges of riding life, so it has great ventilation, a comfortable Float Fit system, a built-in Sweat Guide, an extended back cover, a hard shell and an adjustable visor. The helmet boasts the comfort, protection and great features of helmets that normally cost twice as much as the 4Forty. However, the 4Forty helmet is a champion for riding on any track in any conditions.
It contains MIPS technology, which acts as a kind of cushioning inside the helmet. The helmet actually consists of two hemispheres: an outer one made of harder EPS foam and an inner one made of softer EPP foam. Both are connected using yellow elastomers and slide over each other similar to a joint. In the event of an impact, the outer hemisphere stops immediately, while the inner hemisphere, including the head, can continue to move, slowly cushioning the elastomers. MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) provides increased protection against rotational forces on the head.
